DCCM and  Laurier Changemakers were proud to host our inaugural Impact Venture Challenge. This accelerator-style program attracted students across all disciplines, and from first-years to fourth-year veterans. Students participated in weekly sessions with the DCCM team and were a paired up with our industry-expert coaches to help them on their learning journey.

Students entered with a problem they cared deeply about and left with a credible, evidence-informed venture model aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and a network of Change Makers ready to help... oh and $15,000+ in prizes!

Meet our Winners!

1st Place: Alexis Bermier

Founder, RootShift

Shifting mental health care from reactive to preventative, at the root.

2nd Place: Team - Verdanza Tech

Building an edible, colour-changing freshness label that tells you what a best-before date does not - whether your food is actually still good or not. By reading a food's pH level in real time, Verdanza gives Canadian households and institutions the confidence to trust their food, reduce unnecessary waste, and stop letting misleading expiry dates make decisions for them.

3rd Place: Dea Sokoli

Founder, Beattie

Tackling binge eating disorders through pattern recognition, emotional awareness, and food literacy that fits into real life.

See you next year!!
